Our Values

Our Team

SSR is a rail freight services company that employs more than 450 people across Australia, with many people employed in regional areas. The background and experience of our team is diverse – there is no stereotypical employee at SSR.

From heavy haulage rail freight services to wagon and locomotive maintenance and rollingstock manufacturing, our employees have the experience and knowledge to provide customers with the right solution to their requirements. It is this commitment to customer service that makes SSR stand out from other rail freight companies.

> Security

Job security for our employees is of prime importance, they are our life blood. SSR strives to ensure that each employee is proud of their company and is ‘Job Ready’ to undertake tasks in a safe and efficient manner.

Different to other rail freight companies, at SSR every single employee is known to at least one of the Directors. An employee isn’t just a name on a roster, but rather part of a bigger corporate family – they are a critical aspect of the business, directly relating to the success of SSR. SSR invests in its workers’ safety, education and general well-being so they have the resources to deliver the highest quality rail freight services to our customers.

> Safety

SSR boasts an impressive safety record, primarily due to the safety culture that is fostered within the workplace with buy-in from the top management through to all front line workers. The SSR philosophy is that no job should ever be rushed. Fatigue is managed through educational programs, mandatory rostering principles, and employee pre-shift self-assessment processes.

Environment

SSR is committed to protecting the environment.
